tonight's stormy weather I rediscover the tear in my raincoat

notebook poem soaked by water waves and smudges of unreadable ink

a sunken boat those forgotten lines all that is lost and cannot be saved

tonight's news or twilight zone reruns it's hard to tell one from the other

fallen leaf politics which tree shall we blame today

summer complaint my back pain rises with the humidity

morning shower--drying off--the smell of wet towel

indictment the maga circus continues

mar-a-lago garage sale you never know what you'll find

trump's presidential library is there a tower big enough for his ego

a much needed rain brings out a sparrow's song

cardinal baseball season maybe we should skip this year

rabbitscape the white clover takes over the garden

approaching storm the code red alert for a missing, non-verbal toddler

father's day I hike in places we once hiked together

tiger lilies the bright colors bring a sense of urgency

spring drought my throat feels drier than the dust

late may the irises gone until next year

What Shall We Celebrate Today?

70 mph winds so many new catalpa leaves gone

it only takes a second to get a steam burn from cooking 

defunding the library how about we defund the politicians 

ribbons and roses to mark the site of another mass shooting

cleansing history until the facts are all nice and sanitized

first crop of dandelions proving I can grow something

stray cat's jump splashes me with creek water

worn out barns I'm no good at weathering the storms

lost again nothing better than the pine-scented rain
